Description

The Juniper PKG-MX480-S is a high-performance modular router chassis designed to meet the demands of service providers and large enterprise networks. Built to support the MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers, the MX480 offers a compact 8 RU form factor with a robust design that accommodates up to six Modular Port Concentrators (MPCs) and two Routing Engine (RE) slots for redundancy. Its architecture is optimized for scalability and longevity, with a midplane design that supports high-bandwidth connectivity and simplifies upgrades. The chassis includes front-to-back airflow, ensuring efficient cooling in dense data center environments.

This used MX480 chassis supports up to 480 Gbps of system throughput and is compatible with a variety of interface cards, including 10GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE options. It includes dual power supply bays and fan trays, offering flexibility and redundancy for mission-critical deployments. The chassis is constructed with carrier-grade reliability in mind, supporting advanced features like MPLS, Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPNs, and integrated services.
