Description

The Juniper P-1OC12-ATM2-SMIR is a single-port OC-12c/STM-4c ATM physical interface card designed for use with Juniper M-series and T-series routers. Built with a focus on scalability and high-performance networking, this module supports single-mode intermediate reach (SMIR) fiber connections, making it ideal for long-distance backbone and metro network deployments. The card uses a Packet Over SONET/SDH (POS) interface and is hot-swappable, allowing for minimal downtime during upgrades or replacements. Its robust design ensures reliable data transmission across wide area networks (WANs) where ATM technology is still in use.

This interface card supports full-duplex communication and operates at speeds up to 622 Mbps, with support for key ATM features such as traffic shaping, policing, and quality of service (QoS). It includes an SFP optical transceiver for SMIR fiber connectivity, typically supporting distances up to 15 km depending on the fiber and optics used. The P-1OC12-ATM2-SMIR is fully compatible with Junos OS, providing seamless integration into existing network infrastructures.
